History
The Brooksby Family Association was founded in 1979 by RonCity after the FirstBrooksbyFamilyReunion. EmmelineGarnett passed all of the archive information she had gathered in researching the family to RonCity at this point.
Between 1979 and November 1984 I produced nine issues of BrooksbyNews, a newsletter of news and research results about the Brooksby family. Each issue of BrooksbyNews consisted of about 20 pages of A4 paper, written on a typewriter, edited by cut-and-paste methods, and duplicated on a stencil based duplicating machine. Several issues contained litho printed photos and news cuttings, etc.
The Association ran for several years, but membership started falling away, possibly partly due to my inconsistent supply of the newsletters, due to the commitments of running a business and bringing up four young children. In 1985 the B.F.A. was finally wound up, although I still kept in touch over the years with many members of the family and other researchers such as David Gardner of Salt Lake City; and carried on with research at a more leisurely pace. To date I have accumulated a sizeable archive of documentation, photographic, and sound recordings, covering many of my dozens of lines of descent from families such as the CityFamily, KelloFamily, DefriezFamily, etc, as well as Brooksby, and this family's links with the BracebridgeFamily.
A couple of years after I started the B.F.A., Australian cousins started their own – the BrooksbyFamilyAssociationAustralia, and I contributed some articles to their newsletter after ending my own.
In 2005 I hope to make much of this information available via the Brooksby Family web site.
